About me…

Who am I?  First of all, I am LOVED! I am also a wife, a mother, a sister, a daughter, a friend, a cook, an artist, an entreprenuer, an avid reader, and underneath all of that…a writer.

From the moment I could hold a pencil, I was drawing and writing, even if it was on the walls. I’m sure it frustrated my mother, but she never told me to stop drawing and creating.  Being an artist herself made it easy for her to understand I just needed to create. So she gave me some paper instead…and from there my passion was born.  I have yet to shake it. Creating is in my bones. I may go months without painting or drawing, but the images are still in my head just waiting to take shape on a canvas.

I took my first real art class my senior year in high school and felt right at home. I began drawing portraits with pencil and pastel. That was the year I won my first honorable mention at an art show. As I got older, I tinkered with watercolor, but I was never comfortable with the thought that I could actually paint. I’m sure part of that was not having the patience to learn as I watched my mother spend hours at her easel painting with oils.

When I turned 39, my career drastically changed, and I needed to find an outlet for my sanity. So I took an acrylic painting class.  From the moment I put the paint soaked brush to the canvas, I was hooked. I haven’t stopped painting since, and that was 5 years ago. This year, I actually decided it was time to learn how to paint with oils. I’m not sure what I was afraid of all those years ago, but I love using a palette knife and thick oil paint. I love the texture it creates…and the movement. Flowers and trees are always a joy to paint, but I also love seascapes and fruit. You could say that my painting have a happy feel to them, since I use mostly vivid colors.

Currently, I am in the process of writing a devotional journal for women that will feature some of my paintings. I want to use the gifts God has given me to offer other women encouragement and to build them up by bringing them joy, peace, and hope to their everyday lives, which will hopefully lead them to a deeper walk with the Lord.

Thank you for visiting my site, and may you be blessed!
